It is with prodigious pleasure that I stand before you to present the 17th annual report of our great institution for the academic year 2019-20.

St.Pauls International School is a vision 21st Century school which believes itself to be one of the best in discovering, developing and inculcating a comprehensive and holistic education, which caters to the physical, emotional, social and cognitive development of children.
As we approach the end of this academic year and our 19 glorious years of service towards providing quality education since its inception in 2003, I take this opportunity to thank the Almighty God for His abundant, ineffable blessings and guidance.
Success is a journey not a destination. I feel elated to present the 19th annual report of St.Pauls International School for the academic year 2021-22, the highlights of the journey.
The 2021-22 school year was marked with joyful learning, celebrations, competitions and achievements. Every day was a combination of consistent and sincere efforts by all stakeholders to ensure a productive and enjoyable learning experience for our students both online and offline.
Faculty and Staff:
The faculty and staff at SPIS are its most valuable asset and key to success. The school has an enthusiastic and dedicated team of teachers in the Senior Secondary, Secondary, Primary and Kindergarten sections in addition to non-teaching and support staff. It's their passion, hard work and authentic interactions that help to uphold the reputation this institution was built on.
X and XII Results:
The students of Class X and XII have showcased a tremendous execution of hard work with 100% results in the CBSE Board Exams. 49 students had appeared for the 12th Board Exam and 35 have secured above 90%, 14 students have distinction and full A1 is secured by 9 students. The toppers are Raisa Parvin N A with 97.4% in the Science stream and Sana Ann Sabu with 97.4% in the Commerce stream. The full A1 achievers are

The philosophy of personal attention, regular assignments, motivation, proper guidance and counselling along with remedial measures have indeed brought us outstanding results in the board examination. The management, Principal and faculty members are proud on this great achievement and congratulations to all students and their parents who left no stone unturned to support us and their children.
School Reopening
The new academic year vivaciously started in June 2021 with much enthusiasm and lots of dreams. The school reopened on June 1st for classes X and XII. A special online Inaugural ceremony was held on June 7th for all classes from I to IX comprising of an inaugural video where the Director and the Principal addressed the students to reach one step closer in achieving their hopes and dreams. Inaugural ceremony of the 11th Grade was also organised through an online platform on the 14th of June.
Online Learning and Hybrid Classrooms
In this academic session, the school has primarily been working in an online mode in accordance with the Government Regulations. All classes and students were in touch with their class teachers and subject teachers through many virtual modes. Efforts were being made to ensure that all students actively participated in the online mode and attained maximum learning outcomes. Teachers conducted their online lectures with attractive and informative Power point presentations, online activities and even conducted the Periodic tests and Examinations through the online medium.
When the school reopened physically, we were well prepared with hybrid classrooms. We are now fully Wi-Fi enabled with Projectors and Smart Boards in all classrooms. All precautions of sanitization, thermal checking, wearing of mask and social distancing was maintained at the school and equal importance was given to all students attending classes online and offline. Care was also taken to ensure that the staff were vaccinated well in advance to provide a safe and secure school environment.
Beginning of a New Era
On July 1st Rev.Dr.Douglas Pinheiro officially handed over the directorship to Rev.Fr.Antony Vacko Arackkal. A handing-over ceremony was conducted in the school in the presence of dignitaries from the Archdiocese of Verapoly, Principal, Manager and staff members. Rev.Dr.Douglas Pinheiro was a great leader and managed the school with passion. We have achieved so much under his guidance. Change is inevitable and with change we are at the receiving end of an abundance of opportunity. We are indeed very fortunate to have Rev.Fr.Antony Vacko Arackkal as our director. He is an exceptional strategic planner, passionate Project Manager and counselling professional with a successful track record in delivering both theoretical and practical Curriculum Development projects in addition to being at the reins of various educational institutions. His energy, enthusiasm and focus on education and learning will empower our institute to achieve greater excellence.
Kindergarten
We are proud to have one of best Kindergarten facility with a team of excellent and dedicated staff. 90% of brain development happens before the age of 6. A quality preschool education will set a child up for greater success in every area of life. The kindergarten provides a joyousness atmosphere where the children constantly engage in activities that grip their interest.19th KG Vidyarambham was conducted online from the school on June 14th.SPIK 19th Talents Day 2021-2022 Rising Paulian Stars for LKG & UKG was conducted via Zoom.
This year we are in the development of an ideal kindergarten curriculum with the perfect blend of education materials and learning activities. Creating our own curriculum is a fantastic way to personalize our student's education.
Investiture Ceremony

Investiture ceremony 2021-22 was held online through Webex platform on July 14th. The Paulian Parliament members took the oath and accepted their respective roles.
Special Assemblies and Important Days
We have special assemblies as a way of beginning the day with a new vigour, wisdom and knowledge. Days with significance are always celebrated to help the students understand its relevance. In addition to that, short video presentations, poster competitions, role plays, skits and a plethora of other activities are accompanied. A list of days observed at our school includes World Red Cross Day, International Nurses Day, World Environment Day, World Population Day, Pi Day, Moon Day, Kargil Vijay Divas, Teachers Day, Children’s Day and many more.
Co- Curricular and Extra Curricular Activities
Every activity in school life plays a significant role in a child's development. Co-curricular activities are an essential part of school life as they help to enhance the learning process of the students Through these activities we strive to bring in social skills, intellectual skills, moral values, personality progress and character appeal in our students.
Ekspozicio- Annual Academic Exhibition
Ekspozicio- Annual Academic Exhibition inaugurated by John M.Thomas (CEO of Technopark & Kerala Startup Mission) on September 4th 9 am at the school campus. Students joined online in the inauguration. The subject-wise competition was conducted categorically in different classes throughout the day.
Industrial visit
An industrial visit to Kerala Startup Mission was organised and students from class IX -XII visited the place and gained an immense amount of technical and practical knowledge.
Clubs and Departmental Activities
All subject departments and clubs in the school organise a variety of activities related to their objectives to keep the students informed as well as entertained at the same time. Balajanasakhyam and the Malayalam department jointly organised 'Kaliyarangu' as part of Reading Day. To support, cheer and share the passion of Tokyo Olympics, an Online Quiz was organized. An awareness message was circulated as part of the leadership and life skills program SALT(Skills and Attitudes for Life Transformation) on Game Addiction. The video of the students was shared.
Festivals and Celebrations
Celebration of festivals is celebration of life. Celebration of festivals both religious and national, goes a long way in making our students more tolerant, sensitive and respectful towards India’s diversity. Festivals like Onam, Kerala Piravi, Christmas, etc and national festivals like Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti and Republic Day were celebrated with much enthusiasm.
Competitions and Achievements
“Real learning comes about when the competitive spirit has an ambitious desire.”
Competitions and academic activities encourage and foster a healthy and competitive spirit. The activities were conducted at classroom level, school level and interhouse level.
Virtual Cultural Fest Felicidad 2021 was organised at our which is an Interhouse Art and Cultural Competition. The 4 houses Andes, Alps, Atlas and Himalayas competed fairly and fiercely.
Our students also participated in various championships, quizzes, competitions organized by CBSE as well as other organizations and schools and have won many accolades and prizes.
Olympiads are given due importance and students are encouraged to actively participate. It challenges their intellect and promotes deeper understanding. As in the previous years, Students participated in the SOF GK Olympiad and International English Olympiad and won numerous Medals of Gold and Distinction. It was a great achievement for SPIS when the International Gold Medal was bagged by Bhadra Kannan of 4B.
Training, Seminars, Orientation and Counseling
Every academic year training, seminars and orientation programmes are conducted for teachers and students to improve and implement innovative ideas in teaching learning practices as well as to take the students beyond their current level of learning. This year too teachers participated in all the mandatory workshops by CBSE as well as from other important webinars and workshops in the online mode.
Students have attended numerous webinars and training programs. Young Warrior Movement, Prime Minister’s Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors-YUVA, Read India Celebration are few among the many events. Online Counselling for the students was also provided.
Parent Teacher Meetings
Parent Teacher Meetings were conducted during the academic session to appraise parents about their wards’ performance and discuss how we can, hand in hand, help make our students better learners and good citizens. Apart from these meeting, all teachers and the office were in constant touch with the parents and students, keeping a watchful eye all the time and ensuring we were there for our students during this challenging period.
Accademics and Exams
We have conducted all our exams in the online mode and performance of our students were evaluated periodically. The final annual exams are conducted offline in the school campus and more than 99% attendance can be perceived as a great success in itself.
Term I Board Examinations were conducted by our school successfully. As a self-center, we adhered to all the protocols given by CBSE for the conduct of the examination and an excellent feedback report was given by the Observer appointed by CBSE. Now we are gearing up for the Second Term Examinations.
Infrastructure Development
The expansion of the amenities of our campus grows along with our kids. The new office block was inaugurated at the school with advanced facilities and other development projects are under progress.
Conclusion

The School continues to strive towards innovation and for that the latest practices in the field of education are being continuously incorporated. We build upon our many accomplishments across our campus with the support of our management. We are extremely grateful to His Grace Most Rev Dr. Joseph Kalathiparambil, Archbishop of Verapoly and patron of St. Pauls International School and the Archdiocese of Verapoly. As we recount our achievements and success with pride and happiness, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to our Director Rev. Fr Antony Vacko Arackal. I render my thanks to our Manager, all teaching and non-teaching staff for their persistent hardwork and constructive approach all throughout the year. We remain grateful to all students, parents and well wishers for their support and unparalleled trust in us which propels us to march ahead with greater commitment and enthusiasm.

“ Inspiring to Reach Beyond”
St. Paul’s International School, one of the best schools in Kerala, has been imparting the best quality education to thousands of students for the last 17 years of its excellence. The academic year 2019-20 commenced on 6th June, 2019 with a retreat. We have a group of diligent and focused students who are set in the pursuit of learning. At present we have Pre- KG, K.G and Classes I to XII in the school. We have Science and Commerce streams in Senior Secondary section. Great teachers have the power to touch the heart and soul of many a student to ignite the love for learning. The strength of our school is our faculty. There are 73 members on the teaching staff and 35 members on the non-teaching staff who are well experienced, dedicated, loving and caring.
Our eleventh batch of 50 students were presented for the Class X examination in March 2019. Our school secured 100 percentage pass result. We are really proud to say that of the 50 students appeared for the public examination, Anna Elizabeth, Raisa Parvin N A, Archana Rose Reji and Olivia Paul secured A1 in all subjects. The topper of Class X was Anna Elizabeth and she scored 98.4 %. Our school secured 100 percentage pass result in Class XII public examination also. Of the 38 students appeared for Class XII examination, 10 students secured more than 90%, 22 students passed with distinction and 6 with first class. In Science batch Vaibhavi G Rao topped with 94.2 % and in Commerce stream Ann Mary Joffy was the topper with 93.6 % of marks. I may use this opportunity to thank the parents and teachers of Class X & XII students who gave all support and encouragement to the students to come out in flying colours. I congratulate the students whole heartedly who brought glory to the school through their outstanding performance. I am very happy to announce that three of our students were the national toppers in various subjects. Anna Elizabeth of Class X was the national topper in Science and Social Science and Liya Maria Tony was the national topper in English. Maria Roy of Class XII was the national topper in Biology.
We have inaugurated the alumni website on 24th November 2018. It gives me immense pleasure to announce that many of alumni are studying in the prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, IISERs, Govt. Engineering Colleges, Medical Colleges, Central Universities and some are preparing for the CA examination.
World Environment Day was celebrated in school. As a part of the celebration, saplings were exchanged among students.
The students of L.K.G were welcomed to St. Paul’s International Kinder Garten on 12th June, 2019 through the initiation programme called Vidyarambam. Mr. Sippy Pallipuram, the renowned writer of children’s literature was the chief guest for the programme.
To develop reading habits among students, separate class room library has been set up in various classes. Reading day was inaugurated in the school on 19th June, 2019 and the Chief Guest was Mr. Jaleel Thananth, Balajanasakhyam Coordinator, Kalamassery.
Inauguration of Balajanasakhyam was held on 4th July by Poet, Mr.Cherukunnam Vasudevan Nair. Mr. Jayan Century, film, serial and mimicry artist entertained our children with his performance. Malayalam Department and Balajanasakhyam of our school conducted kaliyarang and chiriyoga the same day. Mr. Vivek T.P, R J Singer and Mr. Sunil Kumar S.V, Yoga Trainer took the classes.
A few vibrant students of our school were invested with the responsibilities of School Captain, School Vice Captain, House Captains and Vice-Captains and SPIK Captain of the school in the investiture ceremony. Master Sohail Sanjay Moideen and Kumari. Raisa Parvin N A were selected the School Captain and School Vice Captain respectively. Master Abhinav. S of UKG was selected the SPIK Captain. It was held on 16th July, 2019 and the Chief Guest for the ceremony Captain Raja Vinod, Director, Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology, gave away the badges to the newly elected leaders who were set for the office.
Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies the unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment and harmony between man and nature. June 21st is celebrated as international yoga day. It was celebrated with lot of activities and yoga exercises in the special assembly conducted in the school.
SEED club of our school and pisciculture was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. S. Sitaraman on 24th July. Mr. Rony John, Social iniative executive of Mathrubhoomi and Mr. Akhil, SEED Co ordinator, felicitated the function.
The Annual Cultural Fest, the biggest and the most awaited event of the school, was held on 26th and 27th July 2019. It provided a platform for the young talents to bloom and shine, leaving the audience to gape in wonder. The fest gave the students a perfect opening to utilise their unlimited energy and untamed potential in the right path. Justice C.N.Ramachandran Nair, was the chief guest for the inauguration of the meet and he inspired our students to bring out their best performance in the competition. The off stage competitions were held on 28th and 29th June, 2019. SPIK Talents day was conducted in the school on 22nd and 23rd July.
Exhibition will encourage bright students as well as weak students to learn the concepts in a practical way. It will help the students and teachers to interact with each other which will help in the learning process of a student. Science, Social Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Languages, G.K, British Council, Art and Craft work exhibitions were conducted in our school on 29th and 30th July, 2019. The charts, still models and working models presented on various subjects had an excellent standard. The participation of the students and parents was very much encouraging. The chief guest for the inauguration was Dr. Venu.P, HoD of Mechanical Engineering department, SCMS college, Karukutty.
We should never forget the sacrifice and courage shown by our great leaders for the freedom struggle. The 73rd independence day of our nation was celebrated in the school and it helped students to develop patriotism in their minds.
As a part of SEED club activity Karkidakakanji was prepared in the school on 16th August and it was distributed to the students and grand parents. Dr. Siju .C. Thomas of Ayurgiri Hospital took a class on the importance of karkidakakanji.
Our school has been conducting All Kerala Inter school Basket ball tournament for the last many years. This year it was conducted in our school on 29th, 30th and 31st August 2019. Under 17 category, Bhavans Girinagar and under 14 category, Assissi Perumpilly were the winners. In both categories our school was the ruuners up.
Teacher’s day was celebrated in the school on 5th September. Students acknowledged the hard, dedicated and devoted service of teachers. Several programmes were staged by students and the whole school rose in thunderous applause as the event came to an end.
It was celebrated with great pomp and show in the school on 7th September. Poet, Mr. Shaju Kulathuvayal was the Chief Guest at the school festivities. Our students made a very big and beautiful floral carpet the same day. The mega thiruvathira, pulikali, group song, banana eating competition, arrival of king Mahabali etc were some of the spectacular items performed in connection with onam celebration.
Playing outside helps children to develop their learning abilities. Out door play is great for encouraging children’s creativity. It also helps them to be healthy. We renovated the existing Children’s park and added many more play items for our children. It was inaugurated on 19th September.
To provide a chance to the kindergarten children for exhibiting their talents, our school organized the Paulian kinder fest in our school on 5th October,2019. 13 schools took part in the competition. All the participated schools opined that it was very well organized. Certificates and prizes to the winners of the competition and trophies to the winner and runner up schools were distributed in the valedictory function.
The first all Kerala inter school graffiti competition was conducted in our school on 10th October, 2019. Nine schools participated in the competition. The first five prize winners were given cash awards and certificates. The Chief Guest of the valedictory function was Mr. Somji, Artist and Lalithakala Academy member.
Keralapiraravi was celebrated in the school in a grand manner with many cultural programmes. The same day two books written by our students were also published. Kumari Athene Elizabeth Jolly of Class IX published her collection of poems titled The unicorn of my dreams. Edavelayile Eenangal, a collection of poems written by 23 students of our school was also released on 1st November. Both the books were released by Prof. Thomas Mathew. The Guest of honour was Prof. Dr. C.V.Mohan Bose.
It is celebrated across India to increase awareness of rights, care and education of children. It commemorates the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. Children’s Day was celebrated in our school. Our students staged many cultural activities on children’s day.
Study tour is a well planned activity and the school make all arrangements for the tour in advance. This year 94 students from Class X to XII and 9 teachers of our school will go on a study tour to Amristar, Chandigarh, Kullu and Manali from 27th November to 6th December, 2019. All the arrangements for a safe and happy journey has already been arranged. Class wise study tours are also planned for other classes.
We give much importance to physical and health education in the school. The annual athletic meet of K.G was held on 18th October. Athletic meet of Classes I to XII will be held on 17th and 18th December, 2019. Inter house skating, foot ball, and basket ball tournaments were conducted in the school.

A number of training programmes and workshops had been conducted for the teachers by our school management. Our teachers and Principal attended them. Training programmes include three day residential training programme on Transactional Analysis, workshops in Mathematics, Science, English, Social Science, Computer Science, IP, Hindi, Physics and Physical Education. In addition to this, our teachers attended many capacity building programmes organized by CBSE.
Club activities provide the students various opportunities to cultivate interests in caring, sharing, scientific experiments, general knowledge, developing literary skills etc. It also helps them to learn better social skills, critical thinking and team work. We have in our school the clubs such as Language and reading club, Mathematics, Science, Philately, Numismatics, ICT, Nature, Music, Dance, Chess, Art and Craft, Balajanasakyam, SEED club etc. These clubs have been organizing useful and interesting activities for developing the innate talents of our students
Student Empoerment programmes
Chalachitra Shilpashala was conducted in the school for the students of VII and VIII on 22nd June. Mr. Sabu Pravadas, Art director and Film actor Mr. Charlie were the Resource persons.
A class on Astrophysics was held in the school for the students of Class X and XII on 22nd June. The class was taken by Prof. Atul R.T of CUSAT.
Mr. Joseph. V.T, Senior Principal of Ideal Public School, Kuttipuram took a motivation class for VIII Std. students on 15th July.
Students of Class IV were taken to Trikkakara fire station to make them understand how does it work and how do firemen help people on different occasions.
Ishitha.M.Sujith of LKG has secured 1st prize in Malayalam story telling competition conducted by Rotary Club.
Vasiharan of UKG won 2nd prize both in Spell Bee and word building contest organized by Amrita Vidyalayam.
L.Viswak of Class VIII was selected to play under 13 Ernakulam Basket ball team.
Aamir Zidane of Class IV received first prize under 10 category in the 5th National foot ball championship organized by AIFF
Udayshankar Singh of Class X won first prize in the quiz competition conducted by Swadeshi Science Movement.
Gokul Krishna Sreehari of Class II and Adarsh R Pillai of Class X swam across Periyar river and won prizes.
Mathew John of Class IX took part in the Karate tournament and won 2nd prize in fighting, 3rd in kata and 1st in group kata.
Sandra Saji of Class XII secured 2nd position in drawing competition.
Baghath Krishna.K.V of VIII Std. won 1st prize in the interschool chess tournament under 14 category.
AISAT conducted a drawing competition and Manasa.V.Payyeri of Std. X got 1st position in the competition.
Sohail Sanjay Moideen, Pranav Sajeev Nair and Navin Shibu won first prize in the instagram competition conducted by Rajagiri Christu Jayanthi School.
Anagha Tom and Alisa.Mariam Chandyson of XII Std. bagged 3rd prize in the quiz competition organized by NIT, Calicut.
Toc H School conducted an interschool debate competition on 27th August and our school debate team consisting of Sohail Sanjay Moideen and Navya Vijay of XII Std. won first prize.
Santhwana Institute of Counselling organised an Elocution competition on 14th October and Aruna S Nair of Class IX won third prize in the competition.
St. Albert’s College conducted an elocution competition on 26th October. Following students of our school won prizes.
It is with profound sense of gratitude that I record the contributions of parents to the process and well being of the institution. A good rapport is maintained between parents and staff. Parent Teacher interactions are held after the examinations. We really thank the parents for their love and affection they have shown to the staff members and the management.
Our School is really indebted to the Patron, His Grace, The Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Kalathiparambil, whose blessings touch the personal and professional lives of the entire school community. All the infrastructural developments show the concern and love of our Patron towards the SPIS family.
I take this opportunity to thank the school management for their guidance, support and co-operation. I do need to specially mention our school Director, Rev.Dr.Douglas Pinheiro, for all his timely advice, guidance, support, help and co operation given to us for the development of the school and for the personal and professional growth of each staff.
Mr. C.C.Raphael, Manager of the school plans and implements many things for the infrastructural development and he makes arrangements for the various scholastic and co curricular activities.
Before I conclude, with heart full of gratitude, I remember parents, teachers, students, well wishers and public who tried to uphold the name of this institution. I thank all the members of the staff who have been co-operating with me in various activities. I am fully aware that the success of each and every activity in the school was due to the commitment and hard work of our staff and students. I hope the school will scale greater heights in the years to come.
