  • A WEBINAR ON EXAM STRATEGIES
It is important for students to start exam preparation early to give them the best chance of retaining the information needed and to excel in the exam. SPIS organized a webinar on Exam Strategies for the students of IX- XII on Wednesday, 9th December 2020 from 8:45AM - 9:45AM.The session was handled by Mrs Jasna Kuruvilla (Global Certified Trainer/Motivational Speaker and Leadership & Life Skills Facilitator.) The session started with a game, capturing the students to give their 100 percent attention to the speaker. The resource person apprised that exams are to be considered as celebrations by planning ahead and being self-prepared. The 15 tips to be self-prepared for exams were illuminating and educative. She guided the students to avoid hating or fearing exams. The trainer urged the students to wear a smile and to stop comparing them with others. The need to focus on competing with ourselves and to be a better version of us was a defining revelation. She added, "It is crucial to focus on learning rather than scoring. Prepare a good timetable to manage time effectively, ensure to occupy an organized study space to stay focused and to avoid distractions. In smart revision, with the aid of acronyms and mnemonics one could easily memorise difficult portions and also break larger parts into smaller ones. Sleep is another factor that enables us to think more clearly and creatively; it regulates our blood flow and keeps us energetic.” The concluding statement of Mrs Jasna, “Be grateful for the bounty one has, keep up the dignity and stay connected to God,” reverberated in the mind of the students. The session was an eye-opener to the victims of stress, depression and anxiety, boosting Paulians to embrace exams as celebrations and to overcome exam fears and to take them as opportunities to achieve their aims.
